About Me

My name is Russell Ham, I am a registered Dispensing Optician with the General Optical Council (registration number D-13407).

I qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 2010 and then went on to train as a Low Vision Optician for the Low Vision Service Wales and completed this in 2015.

In May 2023, after 18 years working for a large multiple practice, and then almost 2 years working for an independent practice I took the big step of setting up on my own as South Wales Low Vision Clinic.

As a Low Vision Optician I specialise in helping people who’s vision is not able to be fully corrected with glasses, or contact lenses.

I have also be fortunate enough to be recognised for my work with my vision impaired patients. In 2017 I was awarded the title of Optician of the Year from the Macular Society and also a 5 Star Award from Wales Council for the Blind.

I have also been fortunate enough to be recognised as a finalist and runner up in awards from the South Wales Argus and Optician Magazine
